Xbox Game Pass is some seriously good value. However unfortunately it’s quite common to run into issues. Whilst I was working on a write-up on the state of Xbox Game Pass in Q4 202,1 I ran into multiple issues so the topic changed as I realised an article on how to resolve these issues could be of great help to other gamers. These are the issues I’ve run into personally and how to resolve them. The most common resolution usually is to simply open Microsoft Store and update any applications which either the game or Xbox Game pass may depend on (inclusive of the store itself), or simply reboot your PC.
These troubleshooting articles include step-by-step instructions as well as a few sanity checks such as verifying service status and account status which you may of course follow or skip at your discretion.
Some of these issues will present by you not being able to start a game. Other issues may rear their heads after you start a game and it fails to login to Xbox Live. Each heading below links to specific errors you might encounter and provides troubleshooting advice specifically tailored to the problem. I’ve broken it down in this manner as opposed to a huge blob of content to guide you to the most relevant advice as quickly as humanly possible.
This particular error is quite common, it can either be caused by a service outage or more often dependencies that require updates or simply a PC reboot, click here to read the full write-up on how to resolve this issue. Unfortunately with this particular issue, the Microsoft support article on it isn’t particularly helpful as it simply suggests checking service status, restarting your device, then reinstalling the game. Those steps do not always resolve the issue unfortunately as sometimes it’s an issue with a dependency of the Xbox app or the game itself. Please click here to find out how to resolve this issue.
This issue is also quite common, the issue is often caused by an improperly registered package or by a game being removed from Xbox Game Pass. Please click here to find out how to resolve this issue.
I came across this issue when trying to update Halo Infinite, the same process should work for other games too in some circumstances! Click here to find out how to resolve this issue.
Lately, this one is a daily occurrence for me, I’ll open Game Pass and only Microsoft Solitaire Collection is available in the list of installed games.
