Nvidia CES 2022 highlights: RTX 3090 Ti, RTX 3050, and new displays.

RTX On - Nvidia 2022 CES

The full Nvidia 2022 CES special address has a few exciting items! This article is intended as a non-exhaustive list of the highlights. Nvidia covered quite a bit from Geforce Now new titles to self-driving cars (Hyperion 8 + Omniverse digital twins – sounds like cool stuff), new laptops, and more honestly keynotes are awesome but exhausting as it’s a lot of info to take in and summarising them takes a lot of effort (AMD’s took over 4 hours) so here’s a start and I’ll likely do some followups down the track! Anyway, let’s start with the big stuff – the RTX 3090 Ti!

Nvidia RTX 3090 Ti

The RTX 3090 Ti is an absolute beast! 40 shader TFLOPs, 78 RT TFLOPS 320 Tensor TFLOPS, 24 GB of 21Gbps GDDR6X memory (it’s referred to as G6X but I presume they mean GDDR6X) with numbers like these it beats out the RTX 3090 by about 10-15% in each regard (with the exception of memory capacity which is the same). Unfortunately, these are the only details provided at the moment with more details promised later this month.

Nvidia RTX 3050

The Nvidia RTX 3050 should be available from January 27th it includes all the expected Ampere features (DLSS/RT/Tensor cores). Nvidia claims it outputs 9 Shader TFLOPS, 18 RT TFLOPS, 73 Tensor TFLOPS. The RTX 3050 is equipped with 8GB of “G6” (presumably GDDR6) memory and will be offered at a price starting from $249 USD. I’m curious to see how this card and AMD’s 6500 XT compare to one another! The budget gaming space is really heating up a bit. I wonder how much that has to do with rising GPU prices.

New Displays

More precisely Nvidia has defined a new category of 27″ 1440p G-Sync E-sports displays with refresh rates up to 27″. There are a few cool features on these such as an enhanced Nvidia Reflex Analyzer and a dual-format 27″ 1440p which can switch to a 25″ 1080p. They also mention eSports tuned Vibrance a feature that offers mini-LED backlights to improve contrast.
